Bournemouth's Heritage
Bournemouth's architectural identity is closely connected to its growth as a fashionable seaside resort during the nineteenth century. Victorian and Edwardian development introduced substantial villas, terraces, hotels and tree-lined residential streets, establishing much of the character still associated with the town today.
Later expansion brought new architectural influences and a broader range of housing, creating the varied townscape now found between the centre and surrounding neighbourhoods. This history remains visible in the scale, detailing and materials of many Bournemouth properties and provides an important backdrop for new residential work.
