The Architect

Benjamin R Kirby RIBA ARB. PGCert. MArch. Bsc.
Benjamin R Kirby RIBA ARB is the founder of Rosenkelly Architectural Design and a fully qualified Architect based in Dorset, specialising in residential projects. The practice is rooted in a traditional and context-led approach, with work ranging from one-off houses and period properties to considered residential development.
Before establishing Rosenkelly, Ben contributed to large-scale developments across the South West of England with Thrive Architects Ltd, worked on mixed-use projects at Origin 3 Studios in Bristol, and was involved in high-end residential design at Richmond Bell Architects Ltd, with projects in Wiltshire, London, and beyond.
His background combines architectural training with practical construction knowledge. Ben holds a Master’s degree and Postgraduate Certificate in Architecture, together with a First-Class Honours degree from the University of the West of England. Prior to this, he studied locally at Weymouth College, where he completed an Extended Diploma in surveying and civil engineering, achieving Dual Distinction*.
That technical grounding is reinforced by early hands-on experience on site. Having worked as a builder’s labourer on listed buildings and bespoke projects in Dorset, including with family-run firms such as Building Service Solutions and Phoenix Property Maintenance Ltd, Ben brings a practical understanding of how projects are put together as well as how they are designed.
Alongside practice, Ben is involved locally through the Weymouth & Portland Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee, supporting initiatives and events connected to business, place, and the built environment. This local involvement reflects a broader interest in placemaking and in contributing positively to the future of Dorset.
