Weymouth Peninsula Development – A Concept & Invitation by Rosenkelly

Why This Site Deserves Attention

The Weymouth Peninsula is more than just an empty plot – it’s a key piece of our town’s identity and potential. Situated between the harbour and the bay, it offers views of the sea, immediate proximity to the town centre, and a canvas for something truly special. Here’s why the Peninsula is sparking so much interest locally:

  • Prime waterfront location: It greets visitors arriving by sea and frames the view from the beach. Few towns get the chance to reimagine such a central spot.

  • Former ferry hub, now underused: The ferry terminal is gone, leaving behind open space and car parks. It isn’t living up to its potential.

  • Community and economic potential: Thoughtful regeneration could create activity, jobs, and local pride.

  • A shared interest: Everyone in Weymouth has a stake in what happens next. The site deserves input, care, and ambition.

A Strategic Exploration by Rosenkelly Architectural Design

At Rosenkelly Architectural Design, we’ve started exploring early ideas for how the Weymouth Peninsula could evolve in the future. This is not a public design or proposal – simply a private, strategic exploration of potential, made independently.

We’re thinking about what kind of place this could become:

  • A walkable neighbourhood where you can live, work and meet by the water

  • A place that feels like a natural extension of Weymouth – traditional in style, civic in spirit

  • Somewhere that puts local people, local business, and public space first

This vision isn’t fixed. There are no renderings or drawings being released. Instead, we want to raise ideas and invite others to think along with us. What kind of Peninsula would serve Weymouth best? What do we want the first thing people see on arrival to say about our town?

Respecting Weymouth’s Character

Any future plans for the Peninsula should respect the unique look and feel of Weymouth. That means:

  • Traditional architecture: Nothing out of scale or character. Think pitched roofs, render, and coastal tones.

  • Public space first: Open areas for events, gatherings, or simply watching the harbour.

  • Walkability: Streets that prioritise people over traffic, connecting the town centre with the waterfront.

  • Supporting locals: Spaces for small business, local jobs, and everyday life – not just seasonal tourism.

We believe that Weymouth deserves more than a generic redevelopment. It deserves a place that belongs to the community and reflects our values.

An Invitation to Talk About the Future

This concept is simply an early exploration. But we hope it opens the door for more ideas, feedback, and even partnerships. If you live in Weymouth, run a business, or care about the future of the town, we’d love to hear from you.

  • What do you think the Peninsula needs?

  • How should it look, feel, and function?

  • Are you working on something related?

Let’s have the conversation early and openly.

If you’re interested in this early vision or want to help shape ideas, please contact Rosenkelly Architectural Design. We’re always happy to connect with people who care about Weymouth’s future.
