Weymouth Peninsula: A Call for Local Input
Reimagining a space that belongs to all of us
Great places aren’t just designed. They are built through conversation, collaboration, and shared vision.
An evolving idea for a shared future
Independently developed
This proposal has been created independently by Rosenkelly Architectural Design. It is not sponsored or commissioned by Authority, any developer, or external organisation - it represents our own professional initiative to explore ideas for Weymouth’s future and invite open community input.
The Weymouth Peninsula is one of the most significant pieces of land in the town. It sits at the very tip of the harbour, beside the Pavilion and along the Jurassic Coast.
Over the past few months, we’ve had informal conversations with a range of local people, groups, and organisations to understand the ambitions and concerns surrounding this site. Because these conversations were informal, we won’t be naming specific organisations, this concept is an independent exploration by Rosenkelly, shaped only by the broad themes we’ve heard.
The aim has been to understand the ambitions and concerns surrounding this site. What has become clear is that this is not just another plot of land. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape how Weymouth grows, welcomes visitors, and celebrates its identity.
This is not a formal development proposal
It is an initial concept designed to spark conversation, reflect local aspirations, and help unlock the Peninsula’s potential in a way that works for both the town and its people.
What we are exploring
-
Respecting Weymouth’s character and scale
-
Creating flexible public spaces that can adapt to different uses
-
Supporting tourism and local businesses
-
Celebrating the Jurassic Coast and its heritage
-
Keeping the site accessible, green, and welcoming
-
Finding opportunities that align with wider regeneration goals
Why your voice matters
We believe the Peninsula should reflect the town itself and not only external interests. Your input can help shape how this idea grows, evolves, and strengthens over time. Whether you are a resident, business owner, creative, or visitor, your perspective is part of the story.
Get involved
We are inviting open feedback on this early concept from Rosenkelly. If you have ideas, concerns, or something you would love to see here, we want to hear from you.
Invite us to your organisation or group
Does your organisation or public group want to get involved? We are happy to come along, present how we have reached this point in the process, and discuss your options going forward.
Stay tuned. We’ll be sharing our design process and next steps soon.
